About Julie

I am a Licensed Psychotherapist and Life Coach with a full-time private practice specializing in eating and body image challenges and associated mood disturbances such as depression and anxiety. In addition to my specialty, I provide Psychotherapy and Life Coaching Services for a variety of other issues. For a comprehensive list of issues I work with, please see the Issues page.I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles.In addition to my education and twenty-seven plus years of experience as a psychotherapist, I am a Certified Personal Trainer with twenty-five years of experience designing personalized exercise and nutrition programs for various populations.

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles, with both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Prior to becoming a Certified Personal Trainer, I ran a small Certified Public Accounting practice, providing accounting, bookeeping, consulting and financial planning services to small businesses.

I have always been passionate about helping others. I became a C.P.A. and Financial Planner because I wanted to help small businesses thrive. I became a Personal Trainer, Psychotherapist and Life Coach because I wanted to help people thrive by achieving body, mind and spirit health. I’ve spent the last three decades doing just that.

My professional experience with and personal journey through childhood trauma, weight challenges and body and brain chemistry imbalances led to the creation of The Twelve-Week Emotional Eating Recovery Coaching Program. The 12 Week Program, which I have been running many times per year, for twenty-five plus years, from my West Los Angeles office, offers clients an alternative to dieting by addressing the mind, body and spirit issues underlying overeating. The 12 Week Program is also available in teleseminar/coaching format for those outside the Los Angeles area. In addition to The 12 Week Program, I offer Seminars and Workshops throughout the year, at various venues, on several topics related to overeating. If you’re an overeater, I can help you stop overeating and dieting once and for all.

In addition to professional pursuits, I’m passionate about personal growth, self-actualization and being of service. At any point in time, you’ll find me reading a number of books and periodicals and attending seminars and workshops. I also love staying fit and I’m an avid runner, stair-climber, hiker, walker, skier and practitioner of yoga. I love all kinds of music and playing the guitar is a hobby. I care deeply about children and animals (companion, factory farmed and yes, the wild ones), protecting our precious resources and Mother Earth, and volunteering for important causes.
